It took me years to get used to my church using inclusive gender language to describe God, until I learned some of the facts you point out in this article! Now, it makes perfect sense, if I think biblically. If I think about this issue as a hierarchical man-dude, it's threatening - which is also a good thing, because it means it's having a levelling effect that will benefit everyone!
