I remember his "Start With Why" book being highly critical of Starbuck's losing their "Why" when they switched to disposable cups. His comment was "Nothing says 'get out' more than a disposable cup."
We can see the results with how devastating that departure from the Why has been with Starbucks!
The reason I found this story was I listened to a leader quote Sinek this morning and it irked me. My thought was, "Has Simon Sinek ever supervised or managed people in his career?"
Looking online at various articles, wiki's, etc., I have to conclude - probably not. So when I take advice from Sinek, I'm not taking advice from a successful leader. Noted!
